Velocity Discovery by AiCoaches is a connector for Claude that turns your Velocity Discovery work diary into a daily report. When you ask, it reads the day you tracked in Velocity Discovery and files your short daily report back to your Velocity account, all from inside Claude. The Velocity Discovery desktop app, where you track your day, is a separate app: this connector reads from your account and does not change or replace it. This page explains how to install and use it.

What it does

Reads the tasks you tracked in Velocity Discovery, so Claude can talk through your day with the real work in front of it.
Files your daily report, the three-beat delivered, opportunity, and noticing narrative, back to your Velocity account when you ask.
Re-files the same day's report if you revise it (today or yesterday only).
Stays under your control: it reads your tasks only when you ask, and its access can be revoked at any time.

Before you start

You need a free Velocity account and Claude Desktop. Your Discovery day is the work you track in the Velocity Discovery desktop app; this connector reads that day from your account and files your report. The connector runs locally on your own machine.

Install

The Velocity Discovery bundle ships alongside the Velocity Skills connector releases at download.velocity.forum. Once it is published, install it the same way you would any unpacked extension:

Download velocity-discovery-unpacked.zip and double-click to unpack the zip.
In Claude Desktop, click your profile name → Settings → Extensions → Advanced Settings → Install Unpacked Extension, then select the unpacked velocity-discovery-unpacked folder.
Flip the Tool permissions dropdowns to “Always allow” (see Skip the approval prompts below for why).
Important: fully quit Claude (⌘Q on Mac, right-click the tray icon and Quit on Windows) and reopen it. The extension only comes online after a full restart.
Connect to Velocity. In a Claude chat, say “connect Velocity Discovery” to run the connect tool, then open the link it returns in your browser (signed in to Velocity) and approve. This connector pairs through your browser only; there is no install code to paste.
Ask Claude “what did I track in Discovery today?” to read your day, or ask it to file your daily report.

Alternative install (drag-drop a packed .mcpb). Some Claude Desktop versions accept the packed bundle directly: download velocity-discovery.mcpb and drag it into Settings → Extensions. This path is known to fail silently on some builds (the toast reads “Failed to install”); if it does, fall back to the unpacked-zip steps above, which is the path we ship as primary. From step 3 onward (flip Tool permissions → quit and reopen → connect) the two flows converge.

Skip the approval prompts (10 seconds)

By default, Claude Desktop asks for your approval before each Velocity tool call. That’s safe, but it interrupts the flow you came for. The Tool permissions dropdowns turn it off:

In Claude Desktop, open Settings → Extensions → velocity-discovery → Configure.
Scroll to Tool permissions.
Flip each group dropdown under Tool permissions (you’ll see groups like Read-only tools and Write tools) from “Needs approval” to “Always allow”.

Heads up: Claude Desktop currently resets these per-extension toggles back to “Needs approval” on auto-update (a known bug). If the prompts come back after an update, repeat the flips; it’s the same 10-second routine.

Using Claude Code instead of Desktop? You don’t need this: the inline consent prompt gives you an “Always allow” option on the first call to each tool, and it persists in your ~/.claude/settings.json allowlist.

The tools

The connector adds these six tools to Claude:

discovery_tasksReads your Velocity Discovery task list so Claude can ground the day: task titles, notes, the Four-Decisions tag (Delete, Automate, Augment, Protect), tracked time, and planner dates. Read-only.
discovery_submit_reportFiles your three-beat daily report (delivered, opportunity, noticing) back to your Velocity account. Re-filing overwrites the same day’s narrative, and only today’s or yesterday’s report can be filed.
statusShows connection status, the running connector version, and whether a newer bundle is available.
connectAuthorizes this install with your Velocity account through your browser.
reconnectRe-pairs this device to a different Velocity account (the shared-machine fix).
disconnectClears this device’s connection.

Keep your connector updated

The connector does not auto-update. New versions ship as a fresh .zip bundle. To check whether you’re on the latest version, ask Claude to run the status tool: it reports your running version and sets updateAvailable to true when a newer bundle is published.

To update:

Download the latest velocity-discovery-unpacked.zip from download.velocity.forum and double-click to unpack it.
In Claude, open Settings → Extensions → Advanced Settings → Install Unpacked Extension and select the new velocity-discovery-unpacked folder to replace the existing Velocity Discovery connector. Your connection and the “Always allow” toggles carry over.
Important: fully quit Claude (⌘Q on Mac, right-click the tray icon and Quit on Windows) and reopen it so the new bundle takes effect.
Run the status tool again to confirm it now shows the latest version.

Privacy & control

Besides a periodic connection check (about once a minute it reports your connector version, machine name, operating system, and Claude version), the connector reads only what you ask it to: your Velocity Discovery tasks (their titles, notes, the Four-Decisions tag, tracked time, and planner dates). It sends only the daily report you ask it to file. It does not access your microphone, capture your screen, or read your Claude conversations or memory, and it does not create or manage any skill or command files on your machine. It keeps its own access token, separate from any other Velocity connector, which you can revoke at any time from Velocity → MCP Connections.
